Gateway to the West Coast at its Breathtaking Best!

Members of the Sooke B&B Association welcome you to our home “Where the Rainforest Meets the Sea”.

As they say – getting here is half the fun!

Sooke boasts Canada’s southern most harbour – just a 40 minute drive south west of Victoria! This coastline is one of the best kept secrets of Vancouver Island. Discover many possible routes to reach Vancouver Island – travel from Vancouver may include a 1.5 hour scenic BC Ferry ride through the Southern Gulf Islands to Swartz Bay. From Port Angeles (WA) a similar length ferry crossing on the M.V. Coho into Victoria’s Inner Harbour, Washington State Ferry from Anacortes (San Juan Islands) to Sidney (30 minutes north of Victoria), the Victoria Clipper (passenger only ferry) from downtown Seattle to downtown Victoria – or a number of other ferry options with daily trips to and from other parts of the Island. Regional airlines, seaplane service & Helijet also are busy bringing visitors here a number of times daily. Pacific Coach Lines offer an excellent scheduled coach service between Vancouver Airport or downtown Vancouver, picking up the BC Ferry at the Tsawwassen terminal for a 1 1/2 hour cruise to Swartz Bay terminal and continuing on to downtown Victoria. You will find all the familiar car rental companies in Victoria and even a public bus service (BC Transit) – maybe a double decker! which runs out to Sooke from downtown Victoria a number of times daily.

Truly a wonderful place steeped in heritage and history

Nestled among the dramatic Sooke Hills and overlooked by the spectacular snow-capped Olympic Mountains in Washington State, Sooke is surrounded by the pristine beauty of the ocean, natural harbours, beaches, magical rainforests and numerous hiking and biking trails. Our local waters offer some of the world’s best year-round salt water fishing including huge salmon and halibut in season. Fishing charters and Whale Watching tours depart local marinas daily. We are proud to have 3 pods of resident Orcas visit our local waters from May to October, a huge Sea Lion colony at Race Rocks Lighthouse & Ecological Reserve and many other amazing marine mammals. In recent years Grey Whales are also returning to the region in the fall as they gather in preparation for their southern migration. Hiking, photography, kayaking, salmon/halibut fishing, sailing, zip lining, surfing, golfing, diving, fly fishing, biking, llama trekking, excellent bird watching, discovering our highly talented local artisans and crabbing off the Rotary Pier along the Boardwalk are just some of the activities our visitors enjoy.
